Non-Existant Bob

CindY says:

So what’s the current line-up of Non Existant Bob and who plays what in the band?

bRAD says:

WiL - bass and singing

bRAD - guitars and singing

ToppA - pretty guitars and singing

Ronaldo - drums

CindY says:

being a Melbourne based band, and so many punk bands down there do you find much support with gig venues, promotions etc, and would we find the scene to be over run or the genre to be in demand?

bRAD says:

venues are really supportive...theres a lot of places like the tote and the arthouse, where pretty much if u take a demo in theyll give just about anyone a go. obviously you have to work your way up to anything, but its a really friendly place. Then there’s places like the coffee house in Mordialloc which also gives everyone a good crowds too. We arent actually based in Melbourne, we live about 2.5 hours east of the city, although, we have found the city scene to be really really healthy as punk is so in demand yet, at the same time it is over run, giving a lot of arising opportunites for bands, there’s always good crowds going along and having a great time. But in my area, we found there not to be much inspiration for the first year and a half as there isn’t as much gig venues as ‘the city has.
CindY says:
Were you all in a high school band together or did the band form elsewhere?

bRAD says:

yeh...we still all go to school. were all in year 12 at the moment. so pretty much in a few months were all packing up and leaving the country to have a full on assault on the city. actually our primary rehearsal space is at school.

CindY says:

so how long has the band been together for?

bRAD says:

ummm

id have to really think... I’d say 2.5 years, About a year in, I went from vocals to guitar, so the sound changed completely then, and weve kinda been only working on an original set for the past year or so,

CindY says:

Non Existant Bob is a fairly different name, is there a storey to how it came about?

bRAD says:

yeh there is, we were on a bus with a few of our friends and WiL had pretty much no option but to sit by himself as he was too proud to admit he was by himself, so he loudly proclaimed that no-one could sit next to him because Non-Existant bob was sitting there...about that time we made a band and were looking for a name. We still thought it was hilariously funny. So we used it.

CindY says:

Hahahah, what would the band's greatest achievment, to-date be?
bRAD says:

playing with blueline medic was insanely fun. There was an attendance of around 500-700 people and we had a ball. We played an original set in an area that loves cover bands and got a really good response so we walked away stoked!
CindY says:

What would some of the musical influences behind Non Existant Bob consist of?

bRAD says:

were all huge NOFX fans, not saying we sound like them but we all love them. Our influences don’t really come out as much via our music. Our tastes as a band vary and change a lot, I think most of us have been through a new found glory phase, some still are, but at the moment I’m listening to a lot of emo and hardcore.
CindY says:

Do you guys have any previous releases or future recording plans in sight?
bRAD says:

at the moment we’ve only got d.i.y (do it yourself) demos but as soon as we get the money up well go in for an EP with our sound guy, he’s been keen to work with us in the studio proper for a while. he helped us out with our last demo and he’s been great to us (thanks dan)

CindY says:

What 3 bands have you played with in the past?

bRAD says:

blueline medic, flaccid goat fluger and mindgames
CindY says:

What 3 bands would you like to play with in the future?

bRAD says:

nofx, guttermouth and frenzal rhomb

CindY says:

What was the last gig you went to you didn't play at?
bRAD says:

The away from now cd launch which was insane, the sets I remember best were ‘away from now’ and ‘identity theft’. It was my first hardcore show...

CindY says:

– C.D you brought?

bRAD says:

a band called sandpit, theyre i dunno, kinda mellow pop stuff. Not sure why I brought it but its my sleeping CD. One of the members is now in something for kate I think?

CindY says:

All time favourite disc?

bRAD says:

the decline by nofx
CindY says:

Where do you see yourself in 12-18 months?

bRAD says:

playing shows...making friends, at least an EP out, maybe two and hopefully a tour or two interstate.

CindY says:

Is there a website we can catch Non Existant Bob on?

bRAD says:

http://www.neb.live.com.au its got all the normal stuff, mp3s, lyrics, book, photos, etc. etc.

CindY says:

Ok bRAD thanks for you're time!!!
have you got any words to sum up Non Existant Bob?

bRAD says:

yeh....thanks for the opportunity...ummmm just that the n.e.b-sters will rock your socks off...if not they’ll just piss you off an you’ll probably want to fight us, in which case you’d better pick on our sound guy instead...

CindY says:

hahah thanks mate
bRAD says:
