Marlisa Punzalan has won The X Factor for 2014. The teenager from Sydney will have her debut single released on iTunes.
The first contestant to be sent home from the final three in 2014 was Brothers 3 leaving Marlisa and runner up Dean Ray in the final two. Before the winner was announced Dean and Marlisa took to the stage performing Labrinth ft Emeli Sande’s Beneath Your Beautiful. The two finalists each performed the song that was considered to be their best moments from the 2014 show.
After the winner was announced Punzalan said “I just can’t believe it, I feel like I’m floating on a cloud right now. Thank you so much Australia, I couldn’t have done it without you.”. Mentor Ronan Keating said “I can’t believe it, I can’t believe it. I’m so proud of her, she’s been unbelievable. What a superstar, so deserving of the title, it’s only taken me five years!”.
The final show for the year also featured the Top 13 who opened the show by performing Katy Perry’s Dark Horse. Jessica Mauboy also performed Can I Get A Moment and ther international superstar Taylor Swift took to the stage with her chart-topping hit Shake It Off. Guy Sebastian also performed his new hit Mama Ain’t Proud and announced his upcoming arena tour. Guy said “This is my first arena tour. we’re stoked and we can’t wait. To have someone who’s fresh off the show and to kind of kick them into that crowd, it’s going to be great, I can’t wait.” . Marlisa will tour with Guy Sebastian on his upcoming arena tour.
Australian Music Info has been informed that Marlisa's family was spotted in Blacktown during the season handing out flyers and encouraging fans to vote which has payed of for them seeing as show host Luke Jacobz announced the votes came closer than any other final two in the history of the show. Marlisa has a strong following in the Filipino community of Australia and has made news headlines in the Philippines which is the country and nationally of her family.
